3/14/2017 0 Comments Final ReflectionOver the past few months I have learned lots of stuff and skills about photography. When I first came into the class I knew little to none about photography. During the trimester I learned new skills on how to work the camera and how to use Photoshop. About a year ago I took a class that involved Photoshop so coming into the class I was familiar with Photoshop. During the class everything was new to me. I had no clue what the parts of the camera were, no clue how to take a good photo, and like I said before I knew little to none about photography.
Now that it is the end of the trimester I can reflect on all of the skills I learned about photography. For starters I learned all about the composition. For example, rule of thirds, lines, texture etc. I had no idea these things even existed before the class. Actually I take that back I learned about a few areas of composition back in multimedia at the middle school. I also learned about aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. I struggled with how to use these skills at the beginning of the class but I eventually and gradually got the hang of things. I think that I improved as a photographer as the class went on and I hope to continue the the skills I learned over the past trimester in the future.

For the past week it has been very warm and nice outside so I thought it was going to be a good time to shoot nature. During the photo assignment I struggled with focusing on a subject and some of my photos turned a little bit blurry. Since this is the last photo assignment, I hope to continue using all of the skills I learned through out the class. My best photo from the assignment (to the left) is a picture of a tree with a pond behind it. I like this picture because of the reflection the tree gives off. I edited this photo by adding contrast and saturation. Technical Data: Shutter Speed: 1/1600 Aperture: 4.5 ISO: 100 -Other photos from the assignment below- 2/24/2017 0 Comments Portrait Assignment2/21/2017 0 Comments Photo Assignment 6: MacroFor my sixth photo assignment, I wanted to shoot macro. I have been wanting to use macro as a photo assignment for awhile now, but I didn't quite know what to shoot. Therefore, I went on Pinterest for inspiration. During the assignment I struggled with focusing on the subject. Often my photos turned out blurry but a few turned out decent. For the next assignment I will work on focusing on the subject. My best photo (to the left) is a picture of one of my brother's baseballs. I went on Pinterest for some inspiration and I came across a baseball that was worn and you could see all the details of the baseball. Therefore I tried to create one of my own. I edited this photo by adding contrast, clarity, and some saturation. Technical Data: Shutter Speed: 1/60 Aperture: 4.0 ISO: 100 -Other photos from the assignment below- 2/16/2017 0 Comments Open Photoshop AssignmentFor the open photoshop assignment, I made two photoshopped pictures. The first one was rainbow eyes which I was very excited about but didn't turn out as well as I hoped. The next one I did was an oil paint filter (featured above.) This one turned out significantly better than the rainbow eyes and I am more proud of it. I found both of the tutorials on www.photoshopessentials.com For my fifth photo assignment, I wanted to do shadows and light. During the assignment I shot photos of multiple string lights, natural shadows from the sun, and blinds. My best photo from this week turned out to be a picture of blinds. However, I struggled with finding a happy medium between the shadows and the lights. For the next photo assignment I will try to focus more of aperture. My best photo from this past photo assignment (to the left) is a picture of my blinds. I know that a picture of blinds doesn't seem like an excellent photo but I tried to angle the blinds and the camera in a sort of way that it looked cool. Also, I tried to create a depth of field. I added contrast and clarity to the photo. Technical Data Shutter Speed: 1/60 Aperture: 4.0 ISO: 800 -Other photos from the assignment below- For my fourth photo assignment, I wanted to do black and white. Although I did shoot photos over the past week they were not my best. Also, photos that I have taken before this week that I didn't turn in for an assignment quite yet turned out better in black and white. During the process of editing I struggled with the photo becoming grey or the white and black being too light or too dark. Therefore, I tried accomplishing a happy medium. To the left is my best photo from my fourth photo assignment. For this photo assignment I scrambled through old photos. I took this picture in Downtown Dexter, and I really liked the symmetry in it. I subtracted saturation, added contrast and clarity, and took down the high lights. Technical Data: ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Aperture: 4.0 -Other photos from the assignment below- For this assignment I wanted to do something that I personally enjoy. Summer, beaches, and oceans is what I consider enjoyable. For the assignment I added a wave with a surfer, surf board, beach, and sea shells.
1/30/2017 0 Comments Photo Assignment 3: ArchitectureFor the third photo assignment I decided to shoot architecture. During the assignment I focused on capturing the detail of the architecture. On the other hand, I had trouble with the angle of the camera. Since I was shooting architecture I took a lot of photos angled upward and I found that a good portion of my photos ended up being side ways. Although, it was something I could fix through photoshop, for the next assignment I'll try to angle my camera properly or set it up on a tripod or something stable. To the left is my best photo from photo assignment 3. I thought going to downtown Ann Arbor would be the perfect place to shoot architecture. My best photo was taken at an upward level to capture the detail in the building. My favorite part of this photo is the symmetry. Also, the editing I added was contrast and clarity.
